Overview

The BQ41Z50EVM is a complete system for evaluating the functionality of the BQ41Z50 fuel gauge. This gauge is appropriate for applications powered by multicell battery systems. The circuit module includes one BQ41Z50 integrated circuit, one BQ296103, and all other onboard components necessary to monitor and predict capacity in 2-, 3- or 4-series cell lithium-ion or lithium polymer battery packs.

Release Infomation

BQ41Z50-FW is a firmware-only release that can be flashed onto any existing BQ41Z50 hardware. The firmware incorporates the patented Dynamic Impedance Track™ technology to create a pack-based solution that provides a rich array of features for gas gauging, protection, and authentication for 2-series, 3-series, and 4-series cell Li-ion and Li-polymer battery packs.

Using its integrated high-performance analog peripherals, the BQ41Z50-FW firmware measures and maintains an accurate record of available capacity, voltage, current, temperature, and other critical parameters in Li-ion or Li-polymer batteries and reports this information to the system host controller over an SMBus v3.2 compatible interface. SHA-1, SHA-256, and ECC authentication, with secure memory for authentication keys, enables identification of genuine battery packs.
